Veterans Encouraged to Fill Out Stimulus Payment Form ASAP

All veterans that receive disability or pension benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and didn’t file taxes in 2018 and 2019 are strongly encouraged to fill out a form for stimulus payment via the Internal Revenue Services website as soon as possible.

When it was first announced by the VA, veterans were told that they were required to file a tax return in order to receive the payment however, several updates have been made since then. Now, if your total taxable income is less than $12,200 ($24,400 for married couples) you are not required to file a tax return. The original deadline to submit this information was set for April 22 however, this deadline has been removed for the time being.

According to an article published by Military.com, “This includes people whose only income was non-taxable income, such as VA disability compensation, dependency and indemnity compensation (DIC) or VA pension benefits. Veterans with income below the taxable threshold will now automatically have their $1,200 stimulus payments deposited into the same bank account as their VA benefits. Those veterans affected by the low-income threshold who have dependents must use the IRS website to provide their personal information and payment instructions before any payments will be made for those dependents.”
